Expensive Medical Costs

I used to hear my parents and friends back home complaining about hefty medical costs in SG. The elderly always quote, "Never get sick in SG as the medical bills are so costly, that even if you get treated of your illness, you will die of proverty in repaying your medical debts "

I really appreciate the medical services back home as compared to Dubai.

Unfortunately, the medical personnel here wasn't that 'experience'. Of cause, this does not mean that all medical personnel here were lousy. There should be good ones somewhere out there, but where?

Other than the "First Class' Medical charges, I don't really experience 'First Class Medical Experts".

Making a comparison on medical costs (if you are non-insurred).

Dubai Vs SG (1 SGD = approx. AED 2.52)

A GP consultation cost about AED250/visit vs SGD50/visit.

A specialists charged around AED500-1000/visit vs SGD200/visit *SGD200 i quote is based on very Good ones mind you... I'm not saying that the specialists here are lousy, but ours are able to answer my medical doubts'.

A Full bloodtest that cover mainly the major illness cost about AED1900 for maybe 15 tests vs A comprehensive blood test that cover more than 20 test at SGD500

A STD test cover 4 major STD test cost about AED2500 vs the same test at SGD200
* This test is needed if you want to have the Gladercil Vacination against Cervical Cancer.

A dose of Gladercil Vacination cost AED750 while the same cost SGD250.

A brain MRI & C/spine MRI cost about AED5000 VS the same test about SGD1000 in total

The above rates i've given was based on comparison between private medical clinics in Dubai vs those in SG. We do have very competitive rates offered by our govt. hospitals back home that offer subsidise rates and definitely much cheaper than the above.

Conclusion : It's even more economical for me to buy a ticket and fly home to seek for medical aid then paying for the price here!

YOU CAN'T DENY THE FACT THAT WE EXPATS PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN YOUR COUNTRY, SO YOU CAN GIVE MORE EXCESS AND BENEFITS FOR YOUR COMMUNITY. DO YOU THINK THE 20-30% LOCAL POPULATION WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO CONTRIBUTE IN YOUR COUNTRY GDP!

I missed my old apt. for the following reasons : -

1. Nearer to my work place

2. Nearer to Emirates Mall

3. Nearer to Lulu Hyper Supermarket

4. Roads are more proper..not like these place filled with constructions..bumpy roads..there go my car of 6 months OLD!

5. More lively, more people..in my current building I think it's only 10% filled with Human Beings tenants!

6. MUMTAZ Fried Chicken...Apparently better than Kentucky Fried Chicken.. I vouched for it..

7. Better parking space..Free parking any lot with shelter..New place though in basement but mine is located in one weird corner spot!!!!!!!!!

8. Bigger space..at least twice bigger than current...

9. Brighter, this new apt. lighting is too dim coz limited powerpoint - Blamed the developer and it's M&E engineering dept.

10. Higher Floor, new one very low floor.. :(

11. GROCERY!!!!!!!!!!! This is so stupid! I got this stack of stickers given by our security guard on grocery delivery for the new apt. Called and ordered some eggs.. waited since 2 hours ago till now.. Whenever I called ( i called 3 times), they told me 'Madam, coming....." My last call i was fumming and asked them why so long?? They told me my apt too far.. Come on, it's just less than 5 min by car and maybe 10 minutes by bicycle.. Don't tell me too far! If u've told me it's far in the first place, 2 hours ago.. I would have driven out to buy the stuff myself...Y make me wait and wait?? I think the poor delivery guy walk! If he does, it must be at least an hour due to the construction sites every where!

Suddenly it strike my mind...what if..........i fainted and we need to call the ambulance! Will the DRIVER find this PLACE? ???

Another AirLine Crash again..

This is really sad......Another airline crashed.......

Caspian Airlines Flight 7908 -- a Russian-made Tupolev Tu-154M plane -- went down near the village of Jannatabad near Qazvin at 11:33 a.m. (2:03 a.m. ET) Wednesday, Press TV reported.

The fatal crashed killed all 168 passengers and crew! It's the 3rd airplanes crashed I saw on CNN Tv news this year. My sincerest condolences to the deceased and their families...

Have you ever thought of death? To die fast, w/o knowing, eg. in fatal accident that you die w/o knowing it, or to die with known incurable illness, waiting for death, and tortured by illness....

I knew this is a taboo question that nobody like to discuss..

I asked few of my colleagues, 1 out of 8 chosen the latter, while the rest said it's better to die fast...1st reason : so he can plan something for his family and fulfill his wish. Whatever death it is. it will leave the love ones nothing but sadness...and memories...

The cost of bounced cheques

Posing heavy penalties like longer jail term! ???? !!!!!!!

This is sooooooo ridiculous!

Human being make mistake, this is inevitable! We’re not talking about someone that actually has no money in his/her bank, issue a cheque to another person purposely and that cheque bounce! We’re talking about writing wrong names, spelling error etc when a person has money in his bank! That's not Fraud, but mistake i would call it.

By having this mistake, Do you consider this as BAD cheque and will throw the person to jail???

Punishment should be reasonable. If the govt really want to punish offenders for issuing wrong cheques (not those who fraud). They can practice fines for the mistake done! Eg. Mistake on cheque – Fine AED150 for 1st offender, 500 for 2nd time and 1000 for 3rd time. 4th time will be prosecuted in court etc. I'm sure offender of such will learn the expensive mistake after twice! :)

Dearest authority in charge : -

Don’t make this country a very difficult place for expats to stay in!

Adding a religion culture test during Visa application?? Increase the salary of individual to 10,000 AED who want to sponsor their family here...

It's also against the law if you are caught staying with a opposite sex (not related) in a house as it's against islam!

In Islam is forbidden, but to a lot of Asians and Caucasians it’s very common! And this country is made up of 80% expats! I think they would rather live together to know if they are meant for each other rather than commit in marriage and get divorced eventually. That’s the reason why divorce rate is so high in some part of the world as ppl just get married for the sake of doing it! So if the police is really going to raid all these couples, they might have to have a super big cell to host all these offenders! Then, if boy and girl stay together not allow.. How about homosexualty where two of the same gender stay together, but they are couple!!!!

I believed all of us respect Islam eventhough we are not Muslims and that’s the reason why we won’t (I mean I will never but I’m not sure of others)..

1. Wear very short or over-exposed my skin clothing in public
2. Do obscene act with opposite sex in the public

However, even if we respect the culture and the people, are they doing the same? So many times u see Arabs in their national attire drinking and smoking in public clubs or hotels! You mean Islam allow you to smoke and drink???? How expats feel when they see you guys doing this when you are not supposed to yet you want us to follow and respect your religion?

We should gain respect, not being force to. If you want others to respect you, you have to respect yourself & others first.

I really want to get a small puppy to keep me company!!! They are not allowing me :( how sad! U telling me i paid over almost a million AED for a pathetic small studio and I can't even have a dog ....................................................................................i mean a small breed dog..........not a Big golden retriever!!!

SHall appeal with the building owner for permission to have a small breed dog.. Wish me good luck..

Today marked a 'surprise day' for me...

Surprise that my boss's favourite staff resigned, which none has expected!!!!

I swear.. all would love to be in her job position where she get all the attention and care from our big boss.. a very good salary, recognition as he bring her along for most important meetings, in-charge of the biggest product volume of the product book.. so much more...

I knew she had a hard time to come all the way...being the only lady among the male chauvinist..She's a survivor, i called her..

Everyone was jealous of her and talked behind her back.. When i first joined this company, i have been hearing things about how she get this easy job with good pay cheque eventhough they think she was inexperienced (as compared to others)..I also thought so and had bad impression of her before i knew her.

After my 1st encounter/chats with her when i was back home..I get to know this person isn't that bad as others portrayed her to be. I don't know.. Maybe i'm those that if i like a person, with that kind of chemistry.. I presumed she/he is nice...I'm a Number 7 personality :)

She had 'cancer', my boss said... I called her, but i don't dare to ask her much. It must have been tough for her, she's only in her mid 30s..

Imagined she left with reason that she having health problem..However, behind her back are still saying that she left as she was unhappy boss got another young guy in and she had to report to him. Nonsense...I despised these people. You may have hated her before that, but now that she's leaving. Why can't YOU JUST LEAVE HER ALONE? WHy do you still want to smear bad things about her????? SHAME ON YOU MEN OR WOMEN!

I came across this website when i was surfing for pains and symptoms i always get for more than a year.. TO MY HORROR! I HAD MORE THAN 5 OF THE SYMPTONS MENTIONED ON OVARIAN CANCER..I THINK I NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR URGENTLY!!!

Cycling to work??? Hmmm........if only the weather here is 20 Deg Cel during the day..I seriously can't cycle when it's 45 Deg !!! Orhh ok.. If only my office is just a stone away from my apartment or villa..for eg. within 1km away...

I was thinking this morning.. In some country, people drive small cars but in Dubai, most of them have 4 wheel drive.. So a country with each person uses approx. 1.5 litres of petrol/diesel per day and that place has 4 million people..another country of 300 thousand population with each person uses approx. 10 litres of petrol/DGO per day..At the end of the day, the public will penalised the country with 4 million people rather than the one with 300 thousand eventhough the latter used more petrol = environment unfriendly! How do we solve this problem?

My suggestion : I know alot of people will hate me for this..

To Country with lesser population but high consumption of petrol and big big cars!

1. Price bigger capacity car more expensive to own
2. Price Petrol/DGO more expensive forcing people to take public transport

To country with more population but little consumption of petrol and small cars..

CUT DOWN POPULATION! REPRODUCE LESSER HAHA..

To be honest, i do agree that Dubai, UAE need to look into wastage! Imagine i throw away almost 1 big Carrerfour plastic bag full of waste at least once a day...How about those big families! Mineral plastic bottles, everyday i can easily picked up 10 in my office of 30 staff. Not only UAE should look into wastage, they should also look into recycling..

Was talking to our intern that day on instant messenger. Told her she can go on web messenger to chat with her friend if she is bored in the office. Suddenly, I said ICQ and she was like : "HUH?? Still around??"

Out of curiousity, I went to 'google' for ICQ and aha...I found it..

ICQ is one of the 1st instant messenger software very popular during my time (Ahem,** late 90s) .. This is the very first Instant Messenger I used during late 1990s I think.. Yes, I still remember my UIN ( Universal Internet Number or Unified Identification Number) and password! I still remember the flower (in different status indicating Online, OFFline, Invisible – Appear offline, N/A etc.). Not to forget that ‘Oh Oh’ Alert it give. *Smilez*

I think i've not login for years..at least 3-4 years. The trend now is MSN messenger or Yahoo Messenger. Friends that i still contact since then are mostly on MSN or YM. I logged online to find that other contacts i used to chat with were offline..Does that mean they have not icqing anymore? Why is ICQ forgotten?
